Geriatrician - Staff Specialist

The Position:
This is an incredible opportunity to work as a full time, permanent Geriatrician at Tasmania's tertiary referral centre and major University teaching hospital. 

Provide high quality clinical services to Geriatric Medicine patients, both inpatient, outpatient and community.   
 
Actively pursue improved outcomes for Geriatric Medicine patients by participating in teaching and research relevant to Geriatric Medicine. 
 
The department is an accredited training facility and thus you will be required to supervise Principal House Officers, Junior House Officers and Interns, Registrars and Provisional Fellows.

The Facility:
The 550 bed tertiary hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital, employing over 3000 people.   It is accredited with RACP for geriatrics for 12 months and works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.  This means it constantly attracts great junior support.  
 
The hospital provides specialist services to a population of around 250,000 people and is the referral hospital for the region.  These include obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedics, psychiatry, urology and oncology and many other specialty areas. 

Requirements:

  • Hold the FRACP and be registered as a Specialist with AHPRA. 
  • Have experience working as a Geriatrician  
  • Candidates who hold the UK CCST (Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training) or from a Competent Authority country may also be considered
