About the Role

The External Communications Manager will work collaboratively to deliver programs that protect and enhance ANZ Institutional’s reputation, through a mix of media relations and thought leadership opportunities. 

Working with colleagues from across the communication function and business stakeholders, this role will develop and implement proactive media strategies and create content for our owned channels. We are looking for someone who has proven experience delivering communications strategy in a complex business environment, strong news sense, and excellent written communication skills. Visual communication skills, such as graphic design and video editing, will be highly valued.

Role Location: Can be based in Melbourne or Sydney
Role Type: Permanent, Full-time

What will your day look like?

As an External Communications Manager, you will:

  • Deliver and support communication channels for ANZ Institutional, to enhance and protect the reputation of the division/Bank.
  • Support ANZ Research with proactive and reactive media opportunities
  • Manage the process for distributing media releases including writing, approvals, distribution and website publication.
  • Work closely with the Group media team to manage responses to media enquiries.
  • Develop external speeches and presentations on behalf of Leadership Team members.
  • Have excellent communication skills, developing and producing written and visual content for a range of audiences, adopting the relevant style and tone to meet the audience needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to develop and implement proactive communications campaigns and activities.
  • Live all of ANZ’s values and contribute to a positive Culture (including Risk Culture) at ANZ.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Proven experience in developing communication strategies for a range of audiences.
  • Experience working in media relations and content development are highly desirable.
  • Visual comms skills such as video editing, graphic design, infographics and experience in podcasts would be helpful.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, able to effectively convey information and persuade others to change their minds or behaviours.
  • Excellent ability to build strong relationships (internal and external) within a large organisation.
  • Proven track record of pitching stories to media publications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects to a high standard.
