Cross River Rail will transform the way we travel to, from and through Brisbane in the future. It will be a catalyst for 10 years of wider rail transformation across the whole of South East Queensland and it is already playing a key role in how we prepare for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Cross River Rail is a new 10.2km rail line including 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD. It includes the delivery of four new underground stations, two new above-ground stations, accessibility rebuilds for six stations, the construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast, and the introduction of a new world-class ‘ETCS' signalling system.

About the Role:
The Director Support Services will play a central role in the leadership and delivery of Information Technology operations that support the delivery of the project. This role will have a key management focus on internal stakeholder engagement and delivery as extensions of the service desk and associated services. This position will work with Senior Leadership and IMT technical specialists to deliver corporate Information Technology services that support delivery of the Cross River Rail project. The position reports to the Chief Information Officer and manages two teams - Service Desk and System Engineering. The position will deliver the following:
- Provide strategic guidance on the delivery of Information Technology operational support services and associated system engineering activity.
- Document and operationalise policies and procedures that are aligned with industry best practice.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.
- Build and maintain efficient and effective team culture and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading a team of IT professionals and provide guidance and support to ensure that they are meeting their goals and objectives.
- Overseeing the daily operations of the IT Support Services ensuring that systems and networks are running smoothly.
- Establishing and maintaining a strong understanding of the organization's business needs and working closely with other departments to ensure that IT is aligned with those needs.
- Managing technology vendors and service providers to ensure that the organization's technology needs are met.
- Delivering enhancements that provide for the organization's IT policies and procedures to be up to date and compliant with industry standards and company regulations.
- Lead the introduction and use of techniques, methodologies, tools and services that are up to date with the latest industry trends and developments in IT operations management.
- Build an inclusive and positive culture, with high performance teams, aligned with the values and behaviours of Cross River Rail.
About You:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following key competencies:
- Technical proficiency and knowledge of IT infrastructure, and systems to effectively manage and troubleshoot issues.
- Leads strategically – clearly articulates the program’s role in achieving the organisational vision, working with others to determine program strategy, parameters, and purpose.
- Leads change in complex environments - Demonstrates flexibility in response to change and supports the workforce to embrace new expectations through clarity of the intended outcomes.
- Builds and sustains relationships with stakeholders to deliver customer-focused outcomes.
- Pursues continuous growth - Pursues opportunities for individual and team growth through agile learning, and development of self-awareness.
- Maintains a high standard of practice through governance and risk management.
- Knowledge of common information security management frameworks, such as IS18 / ISO 27001.
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related field, or similar experience.
