We are proud to partner with Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) in the search for a dynamic and visionary leader to fill the role of General Manager, Illawarra Hospitals Group.
This executive position is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational management of four hospitals – Wollongong, Shellharbour, Bulli, and Coledale – with a combined budget of $580 million and a bed base of 727. Reporting to the Executive Director of Clinical Operations, the General Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing all services provided across these hospitals, ensuring that operations align with the district’s strategic goals. Additionally, the successful candidate will have a key role in the exciting development of the new $700 million Shellharbour Hospital, a landmark project set to elevate healthcare services in the region.
This role offers an exceptional opportunity to lead within one of New South Wales’ most vibrant health districts, serving a community of over 400,000 residents. The General Manager will be responsible for implementing a hub management model in IHG to deliver high-quality patient care and ensure alignment with the clinical divisional structure. This role requires a proven leader with a track record in complex healthcare settings, who is adept at enhancing hospital operations, fostering stakeholder engagement, and driving continuous improvement in service delivery. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with clinicians, local communities, and a committed executive team, promoting a culture of Collaboration, Openness, Respect, and Empowerment (CORE) across the hospitals.

The GM of IHG will be responsible for the operational performance of four hospitals and have a key role in the development in the new Shellharbour hospital. As the GM:

Essential Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience.
This is an ongoing, full time, Band 1, Health Service Senior Executive (HSSE) role. An attractive remuneration package within the range of $234,837 to $258,940 per annum, with annual performance reviews, will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
