Vibe Check: The Role  Reporting to the Director of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, this role is all about nurturing and growing MV's profile, boosting museum visits, and upholding our reputation for curatorial and research excellence. As the Senior Manager of Media and Communications, you'll take charge of shaping, implementing, and assessing all communication efforts across our diverse portfolio. You'll lead a talented media team, ensuring that we have the best processes in place to support an outstanding communications function that's always looking to improve. From proactive to reactive communications, you'll bring creativity, strategic insight, and a solid grasp of the global media landscape to guide our efforts.

Relevant skills and attributes: About you 

  • Experience in media relations, journalism, or strategic communications (a bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field would be a bonus but not a deal breaker)
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills with the ability to distil complex ideas into accessible content, including strategies, plans, media materials, correspondence, ministerial briefs and reports
  • Strong network of media contacts and a track record of securing high-profile coverage (Government stakeholder experience will be looked upon favourably)
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align communication efforts with organisational objectives
  • Proficiency in leveraging digital and social media platforms to amplify messaging
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate, inspire and mentor a diverse team 
  • Analytical mindset with experience in measuring the impact of media campaigns
  • Innovative and curious - always looking at new and better ways of developing and delivering impactful content
  • A dynamic operator who excels at managing multiple projects and campaigns at once, all while staying calm and adaptable, even in complex situations
  • You can foresee potential challenges and handle them with a calm, strategic mindset, making sure our messaging is always clear and effective, no matter the circumstances.

Other information This role is a full-time, ongoing position. The salary on offer is $106,534 pro rata, per annum plus superannuation.
