Surfware giant Billabong has announced the appointment of Dr Ian Pollard as the company’s new director and Chairman Elect of its Board.

 

Dr Pollard will join the Board following the company’s Annual General Meeting on 24 October.

 

A Rhodes Scholar and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Dr Pollard has held a range of senior business roles in a Board capacity.

 

He is currently  Chairman of RGA Reinsurance Company of Australia, a director of Milton Corporation and of SCA Property Group.

 

Dr Pollard will also chair the Audit Committee on an interim basis following the retirement of Allan McDonald, who leaves the company later this month.

 

Current Chairman Ted Kunkel welcomed Dr Pollard, saying his strong understanding of the retail environment will serve the company well.

 

“Ian will bring a strong mix of commercial and financial expertise to assist with the ongoing transformation of the Billabong business,” said Mr Kunkel.
