Government announces Australia Post appointments
The Federal Government has announced a series of major appointments to the board of Australia Post.
Minister for Communications, Senator Stephen Conroy, was joined by Minister for Finance, Senator Penny Wong, in announced the appointment of Brendan Fleiter as the new Deputy Chairman.
Trish White has been reappointed as the company’s Director, while Michael D’Ascenzo has been joins the Board as a Director.
“As the new Deputy Chairman, Mr Fleiter brings the necessary commercial expertise to the position during a period of significant change,” Senator Conroy said.
“Mr Fleiter was first appointed to the Board in October 2011 and has been central to decision making during the implementation of Australia Post’s Future Ready strategy.”
“These appointments will ensure the continued high-quality operation of one of Australia's most important and valued corporations,” Senator Wong said.
“During her time on the board, Ms White has been the director with responsibility for the interests of employees since July 2010 and is currently a member of both the Audit and Risk Committee and the Human Resources Committee.
“Mr D’Ascenzo brings extensive executive experience in finance and administration, notably as the former Commissioner of Taxation between 2006 to 2012.”
Mr Fleiter has been appointed as Deputy Chairman until 29 May 2017, Mr D’Ascenzo as a director until 29 May 2016 and Ms White until 7 July 2016.
