Agencies fail at cloud accounting
A review has found many federal agencies struggle to allocate cloud costs.
A study launched by the previous federal government has found that the federal government agencies that account for over 80 per cent of all government expenditure are struggling to allocate regular cloud costs or fund experimental and “iterative” works.
Insufficient and outdated funding are holding back the digital ambitions of many government agencies, according to the review.
It says there are some serious, fundamental challenges in Australia’s quest to become a “global digital leader” by 2025.
For example, the report found that “only one of 20” of the participating agencies “agreed that funding was sufficient to implement major change programs, decommission or transform legacy systems”.
